Having reached level 26 with my Hobbit Burglar I realised I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I’d hoped. I picked the Rogue like class as I presumed (despite the mention of it being a Debuffer on the character creation screen) that it’d be much like WoW and it would be a good DPS class.
As it turns out it’s not an out and out DPS class so I decided to make a new character, this time an Elven Runekeeper which is both a straight DPS class as well as being a healer. The Runekeeper mechanic involves a bar that can fill towards damage or healing dependent on what skills you use; using damage skills fills it towards the hurt-things end whilst healing moves it to the fix-things end. How full the bar gets determines how effective your hurty or healy skills get. It’s an interesting mechanic.
I’ve gotten this character to level 13 today and I have to say, she’s been much more fun to play upto this point than my Burglar.
I REALLY want to see what LOTRO’s Skirmish system is like as well as what the Moria/Mirkwood expansion content is like so I’m hopeful that I’ll gel with this class and get her to max level.
